The Canterbury Cemetery Friends is an independent organisation entirely reliant on the work of volunteers. We are keen to recruit not only new members, but also people with the time and energy to help raise the profile of the cemetery by promoting awareness and appreciation of this important site.

When are the general meetings?

Time: 10 am to 11 am

Time: 10 am to 11.30 am
Location: The Community Chapel @ Canterbury City Cemetery
What are the dates for our upcoming events?
25 and 26 July (10am to ?pm)*: Canterbury City Show. We will have a booth at this event, described as ” community celebration for the city, by the city”.
20 September (afternoon): Heritage Open Day tours and activities (with the theme of “…everyday histories of working lives; exploring the daily routines of different jobs, the skills required, the people who did them, and the places that housed them all.”)
14 or 15 November (details TBA): Interfaith Walk during Interfaith Week*
28 November 10am to 4pm: Heritage Expo 2026. We will have a booth at this exhibition of groups with an interest in–or connected to–Canterbury’s heritage.
12 December (4pm, details TBA): Christmas tree, carols, and family oriented social gathering at the Community Chapel.*
*Note that some events are still being confirmed.
